Ready for a Change of Season

For all of the snow photos and all of the talk of loving winter and the cold I am now going to admit…I am ready for spring. Now. Today was it freezing, literally, I am not being dramatic. A snow storm is slated to hit the area Sunday. Sigh… I find myself lingering over the pages of the West Elm, Crate and Barrel, and Pottery Barn catalogs that have recently arrived in my mailbox, not necessarily because I want anything on the pages (okay I would like some new stuff), but because of the bright, bold colors. Last weekend we got a taste of spring with 50 degree weather. I walked slowly from point A to point B soaking in the sun. It was so gloriously welcomed. As much as I love the cold and the snow I realized how deeply I am longing for and anticipating spring. To feel the sun on my skin, to spend more time outside, to leave my windows open so fresh breezes can float through my apartment, to see the brilliant colors of the world come back to life after the quiet, colorless winter, to stroll through the green markets that will slowly fill with fresh fruits and vegetables I haven’t seen or eaten in months. Spring, I am ready for you.
